Investigations of the static and dynamic performances of an annular seal with a tilted rotor by transient CFD methods with dynamic mesh

A transient computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method based on dynamic mesh is adopted to investigate the static and performances of an annular seal with a tilted rotor. The reliability CFD verified by experimental data, then variations performance sealing under different length-diameter ratios misalignment angles are investigated method. results show that leakage flowrate decreases increasing ratio, while whirl frequency ratio increases ratio. increase angle has little detrimental effect stability long shaft system in three modes. In addition, mode for position at half-length can reduce flowrate.
